Brothers in art developing new site for The Partysquad
Thursday July 7th 2005 - Have you ever been to an urban party? Then you may well have grooved to the musical stylings of The Partysquad. Consisting of DJ Jerry and MC Ruby Funkydoobie, these two have been the cream of the Dutch crop for years and never disappoint.
They get the party started right. Contrary to other DJ’s, they don’t work hard to impress their peers but work even harder to please the crowd, making sure they don’t leave without being wowed like they’ve never been wowed before. The Partysquad philosophy is a simple but effective one: for people to go out and take a break from the usual, having unprecedented amounts of of fun in the process. Always the crowd pleasers, the Partysquad caters exclusively to the taste of their audience, whether it be R&B, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Salsa, Garage, disco classics or house.
The dynamic duo met up in 1998 during the Wanted tour. With DJ Jerry being the resident DJ on the tour, Ruby Funkydoobie (Ruben) just got on stage and took over the mic. That very night, the foundation was laid for what would become the best known Urban DJ team in the Netherlands. Later that year they began their first residence evening (a steady weekly performance) in the Amsterdam based Club Margaritas and things haven’t stopped improving for the Terrific Twosome ever since. Not only have they been playing pretty much every single party and every single club in the country, they’re also fan favourites at venues such as Morocco, London, Spain and Curaçao. Large events, such as Innercity, Ambassador and 911 are also frequently graced by their ever impressive presence. Aside from their massive club activity, Jerry and Ruben frequently release mix-cd’s, culminating last year in industry legend ID & T releasing their UK Sounds compilation.
Currently, the guys are hard at work recording the first official Party Squad album with the help of their musical partners in crime, the Good Life Family, with people such as Michael Bryan, MVP, Dejavu and other headliners in the Dutch urban scene.
